It’s no surprise that we L.O.V.E BBQ. I’ve actually been making it a lot more with the Pioneer Women’s Pulled Pork recipe. While I may have made it for the neighbors on Thursday, but, we were down to eat BBQ again on Sunday! So we headed to Eli’s BBQ in a favorite part of town along the river for a nice park like dinner.
As we parked on the street and walked up into the cute white building we opened the door and was overwhelmed by the amount of people who were inside waiting to place their order. Families and couples alike, waited in line as we salivated over the ribs and sandwiches the lucky patrons had received. But, it doesn’t matter how long of a wait…I’d do it again {the line did move quickly}. It’s worth the wait here people! Plus, while you are waiting or sitting inside you can listen to the sounds of a record player and but on your favorite record to tap your foot too!
So we gathered our drinks from the cooler, used the community bottle opener to unhatch the cold bottle of coke and proceeded to place our order to which we found ourselves outside on a picnic table. We were then quickly surrounded by another “new” family….she just had a baby boy and a team of softball players who were smart enough to bring in their own BEER! {Yes people BYOB, seriously!}.
Anyhow, names were being called and to the disappointment it wasn’t “Jason” {ya know, my Hubs?!?}. So we chatted with the others gathered around us and there it was….”JASON!” It was like music to my ears. J went up and grab our baskets of yummy goodness. He came back and thankfully I just finished feeding Sissy, but, OH NO! She wanted what Momma was having…so I gave in. I fed her a few bites of the bun and mashed potatoes….Yes I’m a good Mother like that, I let my kids eat my food before I do, ok?!?
Anyhow, it was my turn to indulge….I just couldn’t take it anymore. I mean any place that puts cole slaw ON the bbq is my best friend already. That’s how we do it in the Loehner home and how BBQ should be done! Then I took a bite and the meat was tender with the spiciness of the sauce {Uhh, can you bottle this please?!?} along with the coolness the cole slaw brought….it was just the ultimate BBQ sandwich!

Credit to Eli’s! I ate mine to fast to photograph it!
The hubs devoured his BBQ sandwich AND a dog! in just moments…I didn’t think he had ate the dog yetand he said it was already gone…I just wanted a bite…I mean it’s a Nathan’s hot dog, piled with BBQ and cole slaw….again.GENIOUS!
Mini Me ate her ENTIRE dog, which, is only the second time she’s eaten a hot dog…so it must’ve been good for a 4 year old!
Anyhow, if you want to enjoy a nice relaxed bbq meal that’s not only delicious within a very welcoming atmosphere head down to Eli’s BBQ. Parking is a bit scarce, but, you can park on the side streets and behind the building. Bring in your favorite drink and you’ll be set!
