Kroger No Longer Doubling Coupons Effective March 1

Ya’ll know I’m not good at keeping my opinions and thoughts to myself…so this one has me LIVID!

Kroger announced that it will no longer be doubling coupons as of March 1 in over 110+ stores throughout the Cincinnati/Dayton and Northern Kentucky regions. {Thanks to my friends at WLWT for the heads up!}

You may have read my thoughts on the Extreme Couponing show and it’s no surprise I saw this coming. We first saw changes with Meijer stores limiting to two like coupons being doubled. Then Houston and Dallas area Kroger affiliate stopped doubling coupons and now it’s hit the Cincinnati region. I’m sure plenty of other chain stores will follow suit and Kroger may end up changing their coupon policy in all of their affiliated stores nationwide.

The change is that Kroger stores (NKY/Cincinnati/Dayton areas) will no longer double coupons up to $1.00. This will take effect as of March 1, 2013.  All paper coupons will be reedemed at face value.

Some of the new prices that you can expect to see include:

  • 3 lb onions will be reduced by a $1
  • 24 pack  Kroger bottled water will drop $.71 cents
  • Rubbermaid containers drop $1.40
  • Soy Milk price lowers by $1.40

From my contact at Kroger “Kroger also will have aggressive weekly specials. For example, Sunday, Gallon Milk is only $1.99. As the program rolls out we’re confident the savings provided to customers will be significant.”

The majority of the 3,500 lower prices will begin next week and be found in the grocery, produce, organics, natural foods and general merchandise departments. In addition, they will continue their Mega Sales and 10 for $10 sales. Also, the positive side to this story is that the Fuel Program will remain in tact!
