When at the grocery I sit and debate as I am reading the ingredients. We’ve been eating a lot healthier since October and don’t want any nastiness going into our bodies, yet alone Mini Me’s. Now, I’ll pay a little extra {gasp! I know!} for a healthier way of eating versus a good deal and that’s saying a lot coming from a Mom who is addicted to saving money!

For the past year we typically only have General Mills cereals in our home. If I can’t pronounce a ingredient, it’s not going into our shopping cart. That’s the theory I’ve been abiding by and it’s working! I’ve noticed that by not allowing processed into Mini Me’s diet she’s not hyper and in a good mood. However, the minute I give her anything processed she becomes a terror, mis-behaves and a totally different child. Thankfully, I haven’t given her any cereal that are high in sugar and her favorite cereal is Cinnamon Toast Crunch by General Mills.

Plus, who doesn’t love Cheerios? I am willing to bet that if you have children in your home you have a box on hand at.all.times, right?!? I know that with Sis getting older {can you believe she is 12 weeks already?!?} that she’ll be learning how to self feed with Cheerios just like Mini Me did.

Did you know that every General Mills cereal with the white check has more whole grain than any other single ingredient with the same great taste? You will see “whole grain” as a part of the first ingredient on the ingredient list, indicating that whole grain is the first and most prevalent ingredient.

According to Dr. Travis Stork, emergency room physician and host of “The Doctors,” identifying whole grain products can be challenging. Shoppers can look for nutritional cues on the front of the box, but they need to read the ingredient list to know if they are getting enough whole grain. Ingredient lists detail ingredients in order of prevalence, and if the words “whole grain” are followed by a grain like wheat or oats, it means the food contains more whole grain than any other single ingredient. Here´s how to determine if your cereals have whole grain as a first ingredient:With all the health messages facing grocery store shoppers, it can be confusing to translate what appears on food labels into nutritional needs, and hard to determine which foods have a meaningful amount of whole grain. Dr. Stork has some additional recommendations to help you include whole grain easily into your diet. They include:  Start Early! The Dietary Guidelines recommend people get at least 48 grams of whole grain in their daily diets. Get a jump-start on the day´s nutrition by incorporating whole grain into your morning routine. For instance, when choosing cereal make sure whole grain is listed as the first ingredient. One easy choice is cereal with the white check, which have more whole grain than any other single ingredient. Make Simple Swaps. Choose whole grain versions of the foods you love. Great options include whole wheat pasta and whole wheat bread or even whole grain crackers. Also, try different types of whole grain. Use brown rice instead of white rice as a side dish at dinner or popcorn, which is a whole grain, for a snack. Don´t Judge a Food by Its Cover. The front of food packages provide good nutritional cues, but don´t forget to read the ingredients and check the nutrition label and side labels for additional health information. Cereals with the white check even include the amount of whole grain per serving on packaging. To help with choosing products with whole grain, General Mills developed “Fast Lane for Whole Grain,” an online educational game. With the birth of Mini Me, we ate out – A LOT. It was more because it was convenient as in the first few weeks I was trying to get onto a schedule so Jason brought dinner home and I chowed down. This time around I’m a lot smarter and going to have a months worth of dinners, lunches and breakfasts in the deep freezer. That way all I have to do {or the hubs!} is heat up our meal. This is going to be a lot less stress and better than arguing about what we are getting for dinner. Plus, this will also allow for me to eat a little healthier and pay close attention to what I am eating so that the baby doesn’t have any stomach issues.

I was so excited when my Dinner is Ready book arrived. I couldn’t put it down {actually read the entire book while I was in the hospital at 12 weeks!}. I vowed as soon as I was able to make meals that I would and I did! Getting into the swing of cooking double and having a “cooking” day these past few months has worked out great. When I just don’t have the energy to cook a meal, I simply pull something from the freezer and whoola! dinner is done Plus it doesn’t make me feel guilty for eating bad or dining out. I will admit, I’m a little nervous about bringing the baby home. Not because I’m not sure what to do {pretty sure I have that covered!}, but, more so because I like to have a clean house. It was hard for me to transition to having a little “dirt” when I first hand Mini Me. I was breastfeeding exclusively and was having to take her to the doctor every few days to get weighed, not to mention all the “New Mommy” fears.

So this time around, I’m seeking out products that will help me keep my house clean with little effort! That’s why I was so excited to receive some of these products from SC Johnson.

The Ziploc VersaGlass is a product much like a Pyrex dish and available at Kroger, Walmart and other retailers throughout the US. Apparently I have been living under a rock, because I didn’t know about this product until I received it! I am going to be picking up a few more of these {when I find a good deal!} to store some of my freezer meals that I’ll be making in October. The Ziploc Versaglass can be cleaned in the dishwasher, heated in the oven or microwave and even placed in the freezer! This makes it nice for stacking the freezer meals in the deep freezer versus the aluminum tins I have been using.

I also love the fact that they come with a lid and in a variety of sizes and the prices are decent. You can pick these up for as little as $8 or a variety pack for around $19, before coupons and sales! So the next time you are in the food storage aisle, be sure to hunt these down and if you find a great deal, be sure to let me know!

We already have a Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner in our master bathroom {check out my deal at Target, that allowed me to pay just $1.74 for a refill!}. Now that Mini Me is now a shower taker we really haven’t used the second bath. However, when baby arrives {and for our out of town guests I’m expecting!}, I’m pretty sure Mini Me will get in the bath with Sissy so I’ll need to make sure that it stays clean}.

The Automatic Shower Cleaner is so easy to use. Before it’s first use I scrub the shower completely clean. Then after the last shower of the day the Hubs or I simply press the button on the Automatic Shower Cleaner and let it do it’s thing. I literally don’t clean the shower for at least a month. In the master bath we have glass doors and we all know how nasty they can get! The Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner does a great job on the upkeep of keeping a clean shower and it’s less work for Mommy, which I’m all about! This leaves me more time to enjoy with my growing family and that’s something to smile about!

Now the second bath toilet is a nightmare to keep clean. It’s a “community bath” and I’ll admit I only go in there if Mini Me needs help on the potty. Much to my surprise included in my SC Johnson products was a Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Toilet Bowl Cleaner. I’m so excited to keep using this product because it truly is a joy not to have to scrub the toilet {uhh, is there anyone who likes to clean a toilet?!?}.

The installation to the toilet bowl cleaner was very easy. I installed it on the left side of the toilet so that it wasn’t noticeable, but, soon realized it looked nicer by installing it on the right side of the toilet. I don’t like the fact that it is noticeable, but, whatev! I’ve got a clean toilet and I don’t have to scrub it!

If you know me personally, you know I have never been very fashionable, care what others think and have my own sense of style. While my wardrobe can often be boring, there are those days that I just want to feel beautiful and like a woman.

For some reason once I hit 16 weeks all I wanted to wear were sun dresses. However, when I went shopping at Target, Kohl’s and Motherhood Maternity I just couldn’t find a cute dress. They were all frumpy and old looking and I’m not even going there! Then Dena introduced me to Kiki Fashions and I fell in love with several dresses.

Kiki Fashions offered me a dress of my choice and I had the hardest time deciding which dress to choice. A problem I was running into was that I was hesitant of ordering online because I really needed to try it on. With the weight I’ve lost I’m in between sizes and would hate to have a dress to big or small. But, I went ahead and ordered a medium because the dress I chose had a elastic bust and my boobs and belly are the only part of my body gaining weight right now

I chose a cute and little black dress, medium size, and absolutely love it! If I could wear it everyday I would. The dress fits perfectly and has stayed put with my growing belly. The dress is so light that I don’t even notice that I’m wearing anything and if you’ve been pregnant in the summer that’s asking a lot! Being comfortable while being pregnant alone is hard enough to do, yet alone add the Cincinnati heat and it’s bound for disaster! I’ve had so many compliments on my dress and know you will love them too!

When I found out I was having another girl I couldn’t wait to decorate another girly room. However, this time it’s a little different because the baby’s room is also acting as a “guest bedroom”. Technically, I’m just leaving a queen size bed in there for those looooong sleepless nights I’ll have with her and gives Mini Me and I a bed we can escape to in the event she is sick. Daddy needs his sleep so he can go to work in a good mood!

So my trick with decorating the room is to make it as girly as possible, but, still keeping an adult feel. I didn’t want to go the “baby” route because they grow out of that so quickly. So at least she’ll be able to grow into the Brown and Pink Gone Dotty look. We can always add to it! Plus, we will be putting our house up for sale in the next 2 years {if not sooner!} and want the potential buyers to see a nicely decorated room that could also be used for a office, teenagers room, etc.

Applying the WallPops was super easy, even Mini Me {who is 3} was able to do it! We literally had the room decorated within 15 minutes – plus it was a lot safer for Mommy than to paint the room. There were a few graphics that I ended up peeling off the wall because they didn’t look right in the spot and was able to re-attach them without any problem. I love how it turned out and it is just what I was wanting! Now I’m debating on ordering another set to complete the remaining walls or leave it how it is…decisions, decisions!
