All you really need for a successful Family Game Night are good friends and family and your favorite games! 1.     Store Games in an Easily Accessible Location: Keep all your games in one place, such as a closet or storage ottoman. If you don’t have the closet space for a designated area for family games, consider storing your games near the TV in an ottoman with a lift-off top, or in a large trunk or storage bin. That way, it’s easy to get to a game when the family is looking for something to do together, or when your favorite show is over.

2.     Assign Shelves in the Game Closet: Designate each shelf in the family game closet for a particular game category. With separate shelves for word games, party games and active games without a box, everyone knows where each game goes and clean up is quick and easy! Consider keeping games for the little ones on lower shelves so they can grab them on their own for spontaneous play at any time.

3.     Store Games Side by Side: To ensure games are easy to see and grab from the shelf, store board game boxes side by side vertically, similarly to books on a bookshelf. This way, every game is easily accessible and you don’t have to worry about trying to pry one game from the middle or bottom of a stack.

4.     Find a Place for Small Game Pieces: Want to ensure you never lose those Scrabble tiles or Monopoly houses again? Use plastic tote boxes to store smaller playing items like these, as well as dice, timers and pawns. You can also use a fishing tackle box to keep all the tiny pieces separated and safe between Family Game Nights.

5.     Create a Binder to Store Game Directions: Place the directions from each game in a clear sheet protector. Alphabetize the sheets by the name of the game so directions are easy to find when you need a reminder about who goes first in The Game of Life or how much money each player starts with in Monopoly.

6.     Find Time in Your Busy Schedule for Family Game Night: Plan ahead to make sure you’re completely organized before everyone sits down at the table for Family Game Night. SCRABBLE ALPHABET SCOOP is the first word game for players as young as five-years-old. Family members of all ages can grab their spoon, roll up their sleeves and dive into the frenzied spelling action in a race to scoop up a three, four or five-letter word. Each player gets a card and selects which word they are aiming to spell. On the count of three, everyone digs in to scoop out the letters needed to spell their word. But watch out for flies in your soup! If you scoop up a fly, you must return all your letter tiles to the bowl and start over again. The first player to spell the word on their card and shout “Yummy!” as they put the lid on the bowl wins!

Is Scrabble Slam a Family Game Night hit in your household? What are some of your favorite sites to print or load coupons from?

I’ve been using coupons for three months now and wrote this at the 30-day mark to help other beginners. I just wanted to share ten mistakes I made my first month trying out extreme coupon shopping!

1. 1. Didn’t read the coupon. Coupons are tricky! The fine print for one juice coupon read: “Excludes Orange Juice Varieties.” I’ve also been tricked by restrictions on size (re: 24 .oz minimum for ketchup) and the amount needed to purchase (re: coupon was for 2 bags of sugar).

1. 2. Didn’t look for what is NOT on the coupon. If the coupon is for anything that is produced in a travel size, it could be a great way to make money or get a free product. Check every personal care product coupon for the words “excludes travel sizes” or for certain size exclusion. If it’s not there, you have coupon gold!

1. 3. Mixed up pharmacy hours with store hours. For whatever reason, search engines and company websites often post the pharmacy hours more prominently then the store hours. I’ve missed some great freebies from CVS because I thought the local store opened at 10 am when it actually opened at 8 am. I kept wondering why they were out of stock of all the advertised deals. Two hours makes all the difference when it comes to getting the hot deals. When it doubt, call the store.

1. 4. Thought Wal-Mart’s price match deal was the answer to world peace. While it is at times useful for cutting down on multiple trips, Wal-Mart’s price match deal should be used only when you don’t have a coupon but need the item anyway, or when your coupon is at least $1 already. I didn’t realize my local Kroger, Meijer and Biggs all double coupons up to a dollar! I lost a lot of savings opportunity my first week because I decided to match competitor ads instead of shopping directly in their stores.

1. 5. Thought Wal-Mart accepted competitor coupons. I know the sign says it, but they don’t really mean it. If you read the fine print, the competitor coupon must specify the exact price (which is the same really as ad matching). If Target is giving you $2 off shampoo on a coupon—it’s a no go to use the coupon at Wal-Mart.

1. 6. Didn’t save enough coupons. So you think “I’ll only probably need only one of those, so I’ll just clip one coupon.” Big mistake! If you don’t have at least two coupons, you’ll end up loosing out savings on Buy One Get One (BOGO) sales!

1. 7. Thought it would never go on sale enough to beat out the generic price. Best advice a blogger gave me was that if it’s something you would use if it were completely free…save the coupon! You never know! I’ve MADE money on brand name contact solution—something I never thought possible!

1. 8. Subscribed to only one blog. At first I started following one coupon blog—it seemed to have it all! But no one blog will catch every good match-up and some are slower to post match-ups for certain stores. You can maximize your coupon/sales awareness by keeping tabs on 6-12 good coupon blogs. Facebook, Twitter or RSS feeds are the best way to get up-to-date coupon match-up alerts.

1. 9. Printed every available coupon. Many times the coupons online only match what you already have from the paper. I’ve printed way too many coupons (major waste of ink) that I didn’t need—because I didn’t check my coupon inventory first.

• 10. Thought the blog world was the limit. I always scan the printed or online ads for all of my local stores in case everyone is missing something. It happens! I scored $1.29 children’s vitamins at Meijer after using layered coupons (store & manufacturer) on a BOGO sale. I never saw this match-up posted anywhere!

And remember that you may have coupons others don’t. I scored tons of great baby coupons when I went in to meet my daughter’s new pediatrician. Only I can match those up!

I will admit, I’m a little nervous about bringing the baby home. Not because I’m not sure what to do {pretty sure I have that covered!}, but, more so because I like to have a clean house. It was hard for me to transition to having a little “dirt” when I first hand Mini Me. I was breastfeeding exclusively and was having to take her to the doctor every few days to get weighed, not to mention all the “New Mommy” fears.

So this time around, I’m seeking out products that will help me keep my house clean with little effort! That’s why I was so excited to receive some of these products from SC Johnson.

The Ziploc VersaGlass is a product much like a Pyrex dish and available at Kroger, Walmart and other retailers throughout the US. Apparently I have been living under a rock, because I didn’t know about this product until I received it! I am going to be picking up a few more of these {when I find a good deal!} to store some of my freezer meals that I’ll be making in October. The Ziploc Versaglass can be cleaned in the dishwasher, heated in the oven or microwave and even placed in the freezer! This makes it nice for stacking the freezer meals in the deep freezer versus the aluminum tins I have been using.

I also love the fact that they come with a lid and in a variety of sizes and the prices are decent. You can pick these up for as little as $8 or a variety pack for around $19, before coupons and sales! So the next time you are in the food storage aisle, be sure to hunt these down and if you find a great deal, be sure to let me know!

We already have a Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner in our master bathroom {check out my deal at Target, that allowed me to pay just $1.74 for a refill!}. Now that Mini Me is now a shower taker we really haven’t used the second bath. However, when baby arrives {and for our out of town guests I’m expecting!}, I’m pretty sure Mini Me will get in the bath with Sissy so I’ll need to make sure that it stays clean}.

The Automatic Shower Cleaner is so easy to use. Before it’s first use I scrub the shower completely clean. Then after the last shower of the day the Hubs or I simply press the button on the Automatic Shower Cleaner and let it do it’s thing. I literally don’t clean the shower for at least a month. In the master bath we have glass doors and we all know how nasty they can get! The Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner does a great job on the upkeep of keeping a clean shower and it’s less work for Mommy, which I’m all about! This leaves me more time to enjoy with my growing family and that’s something to smile about!

Now the second bath toilet is a nightmare to keep clean. It’s a “community bath” and I’ll admit I only go in there if Mini Me needs help on the potty. Much to my surprise included in my SC Johnson products was a Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Toilet Bowl Cleaner. I’m so excited to keep using this product because it truly is a joy not to have to scrub the toilet {uhh, is there anyone who likes to clean a toilet?!?}.

The installation to the toilet bowl cleaner was very easy. I installed it on the left side of the toilet so that it wasn’t noticeable, but, soon realized it looked nicer by installing it on the right side of the toilet. I don’t like the fact that it is noticeable, but, whatev! I’ve got a clean toilet and I don’t have to scrub it!
