A reader, Jamie, wanted to know what kinda coupon that is in the above picture – it’s a Manufacture coupon that I received in a Kroger mailer.

These manufacture coupons can be used elsewhere, being that it states MANUFACTURE COUPON – however, YMMV. I’ve tried to use these at Target stores (can read by Beechmont Target and I go Round and Round article) and haven’t gotten anywhere.

In the instance you don’t receive Kroger mailers give Kroger a call at 1-866-221-4141 and let them know you’d like to begin to receive any Kroger mailers. I receive those types of coupons once a month and they are really high valued ones. They even often contain $2 off $10 in Frozen Food department, FREE items (like DiGiorno for One and Kroger Breakfast Bars) and you’ll receive a different mailer for certain sales. For example during this past Kroger Mega Sale I received coupons a few weeks in advance!

This is why it pays to always keep your eyes open when shopping. I didn’t need anything down that aisle, but, I went down it anyway and found the All detergent on mark down! I saved 42% and went ahead and bought it because I am outta laundry detergent {I know it’s a sad moment for me, we’ve never not had any laundry detergent in the house!}.

This is in response to the Kroger Rumor Mill article I wrote 2 weeks ago. It is NOT okay to “stack” e-coupons with manufacture coupons.

Our coupon policy varies by division. The policy for stores in your area is as follows. Please note that this policy is our most current; however it is subject to change without notice. The store manager has the right to accept, decline or limit the quantity of coupons or items used or purchased in a single transaction, by a single customer, or in a single day.

Double Coupons/Manufacturer coupons:

o       Manufacturer coupons of $0.50 or less will be “doubled.”

o       Manufacturer coupons of $0.51-$1.00 will be redeemed for $1.00.

o       Manufacturer coupons over $1.00 will be redeemed at face value.

Ø       This does not apply to “free”, Kroger, Catalina, Retail Food Store coupons, electronic coupons on the Kroger Plus card or items prohibited by law.

o       The only coupons that would be doubled that say “do not double” are the blinking ones on the shelf.

Ø       Any other coupons brought into the store that state “Do Not Double” will not be doubled.

Pharmacy Coupons:

o       Competitor pharmacy coupons are not accepted.

o       LCM or Competitor Coupons may not be used in conjunction with our $4 Generic Program.

General Coupon Policy:

o       Limit one (1) manufacturer coupon per item.
o       Items must be purchased in sizes specified on the coupon.
o       Amount refunded cannot exceed the price of the item.
o       Expired manufacturer coupons are not accepted.

BOGO:
If we are having a BOGO sale and a customer has a BOGO coupon for the same product, the customer must still pay for two of the items. In this case, there will be a total of four items for which two are purchased and the other two are free.

PRINT-AT-HOME (PAH) COUPONS:

o       We only accept printable coupons if they scan properly at checkout.

o       We do not accept “free product” printable coupons that have no purchase requirement.

Ø       Buy-one-get-one-free coupons and other values that have a purchase requirement are acceptable but will be MUCH less common than traditional value-off coupons.

o       We do not accept coupons for more than about 75% of a product’s value without advance notice.

Ø       Legitimate PAH coupons will not be for a high value relative to the cost of the item. For example, a $2.00 off coupon will be acceptable for a product that normally sells for $5.00 or more, but a $2.00 off printable coupon for a product that sells for $2.25 is unlikely to be legitimate.

o       Coupons will be rejected if they appear out of proportion or blurry, or are obvious duplicates.

o       Legitimate PAH coupons are never copied, sold, or traded. Nearly all coupons are “non-transferable,” meaning they should not be photocopied or scanned and distributed to others.

o       Coupons will be rejected if they appear to have been altered in any way.

ONLINE COUPONS versus PAPER COUPONS (All Divisions EXCEPT Dillons.):
o       The online coupon will always take priority over the paper coupon. Stacking is not allowed, will not work, and will only lead to angry customers
o       There is a limit of one electronic or paper manufacturer coupon per item.
o       Digital coupon and manufacturer paper coupons may not be combined on the purchase of a single item.
o       If a Customer has loaded an electronic coupon to their loyalty card, then the electronic coupon will apply BEFORE the manufacturer paper coupon.
o       A digital coupon cannot be removed from a transaction once redeemed
o       If the electronic coupon and manufacturer paper coupons are applicable to the same item, the system will give the discount based on the Electronic Coupon.
Ø       Cashier will receive a “B736″ Electronic Manufactures coupon already applied message once the manufacturer paper coupon is scanned.
Ø       An operator override will need to be performed if the manufacturer paper coupon needs to be accepted for Customer Service reasons.

No “stacking” isn’t placing your coupons neatly into a stack {although, many cashiers love it when you do!}. Instead, “stacking” is defined as combining a  manufacture coupon with a store coupon for additional savings. Many stores are now allowing customers to “stack” and I’ve become addicted to doing so!

First a manufacture coupon is any coupon that states “manufacture coupon” on the top next to the expiration date. These can be peelies, blinkies, coupon found inside packaging, printable coupon, etc. (If you are new to coupons and not sure what a peelie or blinkie is, check out the Coupon Terms and Abbreviations article to set ya straight!)

In the Cincinnati area, you can “stack” coupons at Target, Meijer, Kroger, CVS and Walgreens. Here’s how:

1. Currently Target offers Target Mobile coupons as well as Target Printable coupons along with Target coupons found in Sunday newspaper inserts (typically regional). These coupons can be combined with a manufacture coupon. Target is my absolute favorite store to shop and combine coupons. I often shop the end caps first, looking for clearance items that I can “stack” coupons with to score deep discounts!

2. Meijer was one of the first stores that I shopped and “stacked” coupons. I couldn’t believe how easy it was, until they made changes to their coupon policy. However, you can combine Meijer Mealbox printable coupons and MPerks with a manufacture coupon to stretch your dollars while shopping at Meijer. I’ve often scored free condiments at Meijer by “stacking”. Please note that Meijer will only double two identical coupons. Therefore you may have to do multiple transactions to maximize your savings.

3. Kroger is the store that is a little harder to “stack” at. See Kroger offers Kroger store coupons but they are typically on store brand items. However, there are often times that you’ll receive a $3 off $15 purchase in Frozen Foods, Produce, etc. coupons. This is how you are able to “stack” with a manufacture coupon.

4. CVS is great because you obtain CVS coupons in store by scanning your Extra Care card at the kiosk and by receiving the CVS newsletter. These coupons often contain $4 off the purchase of $20 or more and this is BEFORE coupons! This will allow you to pay a low out of pocket cost and will surely get you addicted to saving money!

5. Walgreens is great for “stacking” and it’s so easy! The most important thing to remember while “stacking” at Walgreens is that you must have a coupon for every item in your cart. This often calls for adding a few “filler” items (inexpensive item like gum, candy bar, etc.) to your order. At the front of the store (by the weekly ads) are the Walgreens Instant Value Coupon Booklet. These are Walgreens store coupons and can be combined with a manufacture coupon!

Over the past few weeks I have received several emails in regards to the Kroger coupon policy. Also, tonight reader Beth posted on the Cincinnati Coupons Facebook page that the coupon policy is changing yet again. I’m gonna set a few things straight so that we are all on the same page!

1. On April 13, 2011 Kroger did change the coupon policy in the Greater Houston, TX region only. The major change was that stores are no longer doubling or tripling coupons. This has NO effect on the Cincinnati region.

2. Ever since I started couponing {3 1/2 years ago, hello I can’t believe it’s been that long!} it’s been frowned upon to combine a paper coupon with a e-coupon. Several months ago my Amelia Kroger store started handing back the paper manufacture coupons if the register beeped. When the register beeps it alerts the cashier that there is a problem with the coupon, like a e-coupon already deducted, wrong product bought, etc. I don’t shop any other Kroger stores in the Cincinnati region, so as far as I know no Cincinnati Kroger stores allows for “stacking”. If I am wrong, please correct me.

3. The official Kroger Digital Coupon Policy states that a paper manufacture coupon and a e-coupon are not to be combined (aka stacked). If that’s not official enough for ya, I’m not sure what is!

4. Another rumor that I have heard is that Kroger is going to stop doubling coupons in the Cincinnati region. Honestly, I don’t see this happening at all. If so, they will loose a huge percent of their customer base and I’m sure the company is aware of that.

So while other money saving websites may say that you can stack, this is my take on it from my own personal experience. I have sent a letter to corporate but I always get a read in between the lines kinda answer.

Understanding how Kroger eCoupons work can be a little confusing. But, here’s what you need to know:

To find the Kroger eCoupons, head over to Kroger.com, click on Instore, then Coupons, and then the image that says “Introducing All New Digital Coupons”.

1. The coupon is valid one time only. Once the coupon has been redeemed, that’s it!

2. Kroger eCoupons DO NOT DOUBLE.

3. If a coupon states $.50/2, this means you must purchase 2 of the item to receive the $.50 discount.

4. When loading Kroger eCoupons, keep in mind that it takes about an hour for the coupons to be active.

5. Kroger eCoupons, CAN NOT be combined with any other coupons (paper or Cellfire, Shortcuts, etc.). When you try to do this, the register will beep alerting the cashier there is a problem.

6. After you’ve checked out, you can look on the bottom of your receipt to see if the Kroger eCoupon has been taken off.

7. You can only save 150 Kroger eCoupons. So be sure to click on the products your family will purchase.
